Campaign Associate
California Against Slavery (CAS) is a non-profit, non-partisan human rights organization. Our Mission is to defend the freedom of every child, woman and man by empowering the people of California to fulfill our obligation to stop human trafficking. Our Goal is to pass a ballot initiative in 2012 to enact just and effective state laws to protect victims and prevent and prosecute the crime of human trafficking. In doing so, California will lead our nation in a historic movement to stop modern day slavery.
CAS is currently raising funds for our signature campaign in the Fall of 2011. We have a unique and immediate opportunity for a highly motivated and organized individual. The Campaign Associate will work closely with the Executive Director to ensure the success of CAS’s fundraising campaign.
Essential Functions:
- Research prospective campaign funders, using proactive and innovative approaches, to identify, evaluate and rate a qualified pool of prospects and funding sources. Conduct in-depth biographical, financial and philanthropic research using the web and established fundraising research resources.
- Contact prospects to pitch CAS and schedule donor meetings.
- Lead the planning of 2-4 monthly private donor events.
- Maintain a portfolio of current and prospective major donors using Salesforce, track status and follow up items required.
- Prepare and update proposals, donor packets, reports, gift agreements, letters and other fundraising materials, ensuring that the flow of information and materials is handled efficiently and smoothly.
- Work closely with Executive Director, Board, and other key members of CAS to cultivate major donor relationships
- Establish solicitation priorities, manage prospect lists and research, develop and execute targeted cultivation plans and solicitation strategies for a range of prospects
- Ensure donor acknowledgement, stewardship and public recognition, as appropriate
- Assist Executive Director with Board materials
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- A minimum of two years fundraising experience, especially in political or ballot initiative campaigns desirable; sales experience a plus
- Demonstrated fundraising success with individual donors
- Excellent interpersonal writing skills
- Articulate speaker; *must* be highly comfortable with solicitation calls, follow up, and stewardship
- Strong administrative and events planning skills, highly organized and detailed oriented
- Personally dedicated to ending human trafficking; Member of CAS a plus
- Highly proficient using Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and web research; Salesforce experience a plus
- Ability to turn around work quickly and thrive in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- Ability to problem solve, innovate, and manage multiple tasks and sensitive information
- Just a great attitude about life, passionate about being part of creating a historic movement against human trafficking. Enthusiasm and a willingness to accept responsibility and just get things done.
- Must be able to work weekends and evenings as needed.
Temporary, unbenefited position. Full time. Position is expected to go from now until October or November of 2011
