After escaping nearly six years of modern-day slavery\, she wrote her first book\, Roadmap to Redemption\, followed by a 16-week curriculum titled Elevate. RBI’s advanced trainings have equipped over 100\,000 community professionals including FBI\, Homeland Security\, local law enforcement\, medical professionals and aftercare programs to provide expert testimony during trial and investigation\, trainings and consultation. Rebecca serves as an advisor to the United States Dept. of Health and Human Services\, the Presidential Candidacy Equality Model Coalition and the Oregon Dept of Justice. \nIn 2015\, Rebecca realized that if she could get a masters online\, she could mentor online and created the first online school for trafficking survivors\, merging tech and social justice. DESCRIPTION:What would it take to produce a comprehensive study of farm workers and their housing needs in Ventura County? Learn more at this meeting!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe most recent attempt to collect data on the makeup of Ventura County’s farm worker households\, and to quantify farm worker housing needs\, was published in 2001. It was prepared under the auspices of the Ventura County Resource Management Agency’s Planning Division. \nMuch has changed in the housing market\, agricultural labor force and county economy in the past 19 years. Yet the disconnect between farm worker income and local housing prices remains as profound as ever. \nWhat would it take to produce a comprehensive study of farm workers and their housing needs in Ventura County\, coupled with a detailed stakeholder-driven strategy to wield the study’s findings as a catalyst for specific policy changes and as a tool for public education? \nIn 2018\, a farm worker housing study was funded and published by a collaboration of County and City governments\, affordable housing developers\, and nonprofit organizations in the Salinas and Pajaro Valleys. The report also included a comprehensive Action Plan that is currently being implemented across jurisdictions and yielding great results. \nJoin us on Friday\, February 28 to hear from Jennifer Coile\, the program manager that lead the Farm Worker Housing Study and Action Plan in Salinas Valley and Pajaro Valley. We will hear about what steps were taken to initiate this study\, who was involved\, how it was financed\, and the research methodology and process. Trapped in a life of chaos\, coerced into prostitution\, abused and controlled by her trafficker\, Rebecca was forced into sex trafficking for nearly six years. Many attempted escapes\, two brandings\, and several pimps later\, Federal Investigators raided the home\, allowing her an eventual avenue for escape. These days Rebecca can be found either telling her story or helping others tell their own. Her trainings in this underground world are highly sought after by the FBI\, Homeland Security\, undercover\, SVU medical professional and prosecutors. Rebecca will have her recently released book\, “In Pursuit of Love” available for purchase. \nWe are also proud to announce we have Suzanne Schultz joining us this evening. The regional conference is open to the general public and an opportunity for concerned citizens\, victim service providers\, public\, legal and medical professionals\, law enforcement and government agencies\, social workers\, embassy and consulate staff\, faith and business leaders to be informed and congregate to support rights for victims and survivors. \n\nCentral Valley Against Human Trafficking (CVAHT) Central Valley Against Human Trafficking (CVAHT) provides awareness\, training\, technical assistance\, and advocacy about human trafficking and trafficking-related issues. Through Sanctuary and Youth Services’ other programs\, emergency shelter\, transitional housing\, case management\, transportation\, referrals\, and other assistance is provided to victims of all forms of human trafficking. CVAHT funded partners provide additional assistance to victims of human trafficking; including services for immigrants and victims of domestic violence. CVAHT leads the anti-trafficking effort throughout the Central Valley of California and consistently represents the region in state and nation-wide efforts. \nThrough partners and stakeholders\, Central Valley Against Human Trafficking (CVAHT) serves a six-county region including: Merced\, Madera\, Fresno\, Tulare\, Kings and Kern counties.

SUMMARY:Proposal Due Date for 36th Annual San Diego International Conference on Child and Family Maltreatment
DESCRIPTION:The 36th Annual San Diego International Conference on Child and Family Maltreatment will address a range of important multidisciplinary topics in the fields of child maltreatment\, human trafficking and domestic violence.  The Pre-Conference Institutes will be January 23rd-24th\, 2021 and the Main Conference will be January 25th-28th\, 2021. \nThe objective of the San Diego Conference is to develop and enhance professional skills and knowledge in the prevention\, recognition\, assessment and treatment of all forms of maltreatment including those related to family violence as well as to enhance investigative and legal skills. Issues concerning support for families\, prevention\, leadership\, policy making\, secondary and translating the latest research into action are also addressed. \nTo submit an abstract for proposal\, please visit https://www.cvent.com/c/abstracts/7e27bfe7-eef7-4257-bb4c-8c99bded92c9.  The Submission Deadline is April 13\,2020! \nWe are inviting proposals for workshop/interactive sessions addressing one of the following topics (click here for more information): \n\nChild Welfare\nDomestic Violence\nEarly Childhood Mental Health\nForensic Interview\nGlobal Perspectives\nInvestigations\nLegal\nMedical for Medical Professionals\nMedical for the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT)\nMental Health/Trauma Counseling\nPrevention & Family Strengthening\nScientific Sessions (Research)\nSecondary Traumatic Stress\nTrauma Informed Systems\nVictim Support and Advocacy\n\nSubmissions are reviewed by a speaker selection committee based on 1) Overall quality of the proposal\, 2) Relevant topic within the scope of the conference and specific track and 3) Provides significant evidence-based research and/or published articles. 4) Presenter qualifications. \nNot all submitted proposals may be invited to participate in the conference. Proposals that are accepted will be included in the conference based on the above criteria and available space within selected topic/track. \nWe hope you consider attending this conference\, as well as consider applying to present.
