SUMMARY:How can USD lead the fight to end Human Trafficking?
DESCRIPTION:Stopping Traffic is a two-day solutions summit jointly hosted by USD School of Law and the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies focused on answering this question. SUMMARY:Human Trafficking & The Dangers of Technology
DESCRIPTION:According to the National Human Trafficking Hotline California has the highest number of reported human trafficking cases in the United States. With technology being used as a deceptive gateway for exploiters to recruit\, sell and groom children\, the time for us to combat human trafficking is now. PROTECT™ is a leading human trafficking prevention education and training program. PROTECT™ was developed by a coalition of three anti-trafficking nonprofits in partnership with the California Department of Education and the California Attorney General’s Office. \nHuman Trafficking & The Dangers of Technology is now available to school communities of parents\, guardians\, and other community members. In this session participants will accomplish these three learning objectives – Education\, Awareness\, and Prevention. It will provide the information and resources necessary to educate you on human trafficking and the dangers of technology. \nWhat’s our objective? To increase knowledge of human trafficking\, including labor and sex trafficking\, enhance understanding of trafficking recruitment tactics and the role of technology and increase protective factors for youth and young adults throughout our communities.

SUMMARY:A Film Screening of “TRAFFICKED”
DESCRIPTION:Start the conversation about sex trafficking by attending this TRAFFICKED film screening with a post-movie panel discussion.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSUGGESTED min. age 14 \nWoman’s Club of Fullerton & AIB2B Present “TRAFFICKED: We Are Not For Sale”. Sex trafficking is a $150 billion dollar industry. Youth in Orange County are being groomed for sex trafficking and awareness is the best way to fight it. \nReleased in 2017 and based on real life events\, starring Ashley Judd and Patrick Duffy\, “Trafficked” revolves around three young women who were forced into slavery in the international sex trade\, entering the trade from various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Duffy plays the corrupt Congressman Christian Conrad\, his first “Bad Guy” a character which he describes as a wolf in sheep’s clothing. \nThe afternoon will begin with a ceremony featuring elected officials and introductory remarks by Conroy Kanter\, producer of “Trafficked”. After the live screening of the 105-minute film\, a post-movie panel discussion will include Jan Jeffcoat\, CBS anchor and media personality\, Bishop Gale Oliver of Greater Family Life Church in Santa Ana\, Andrea Espino\, the human trafficking specialist of WTLC\, a Fullerton based non-profit and Crittenton\, another nonprofit focused on services for children and families. Finally\, a survivor will join us and share her personal story of being trafficked and rebuilding her life after tragedy and abuse. \nConroy Kanter is the Founder and President of KK Ranch Productions\, CEO of Trafficked\, LLC\, an executive member of LA Women in Film\, SAG and ALSC. In addition to cherishing her role as a mother\, she is an award winning producer\, actress\, speaker\, and now—activist.

SUMMARY:Spoken Word & Poetry for Human Trafficking Awareness
DESCRIPTION:Help us spread the word that January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Come join us on January11th for some spoken word and poetry performed by a talented team of eight local artists. Although this event is to bring awareness to human trafficking not all pieces are specific to human trafficking but all are of excellence and free of foul language. However\, due to the nature of the testimony that will be shared\, it is recommended that children under the age of 10 years old not be in attendance. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Proceeds from this event will be donated by Jessica to a local anti-human trafficking ministry that serves individuals caught up in the lifestyle as well as those most vulnerable to trafficking. Seats are limited so don’t wait to get your ticket.

SUMMARY:Advanced Human Trafficking Symposium: The Role of Evolving Technologies in a Globally Connected World
DESCRIPTION:The year 2020 will see the world connected by technology. It will be a world without borders and a home without walls as criminals\, we have never met and may never meet\, will use technology to gain unprecedented access to our kids and exploit them. \nCrimes of sex trafficking are changing as gangs and pimps build large-scale commercial sex rings to recruit young people from our communities and exploit them all across the nation. Mass-audience live-streaming apps are already making our kids available to tens of thousands of strangers. Advancing technologies of encryption\, artificial intelligence\, virtual reality pornography\, crypto-currency and the Dark Net will change how predators\, pimps and pedophiles exploit the vulnerable and innocent. These technologies will require law enforcement to change the way they investigate cases and solve complex crimes of human exploitation. \nThis year’s symposium will feature some of the finest experts in the nation combating human trafficking\, sextortion\, social media exploitation and child pornography. Speakers will include law enforcement\, educators\, researchers\, authors and advocates with years of experience in handling real cases and researching the most advanced technologies and their impact on crime and crime solving. Topics will include domestic sex trafficking investigation\, policies and legislation\, crime analyst research and an examination of the impact of advancing technologies such as artificial intelligence\, encryption\, cryptocurrency\, mass audience live streaming and the Dark Net.
