DESCRIPTION:Fueled by powerful stories and a desire to foster change alongside our partners across the globe\, California’s Forgotten Children has become a movement.\nWe have reached thousands of people internationally by raising awareness about the prevalence of child sex trafficking through festivals and community screenings. We are mobilizing change within communities by partnering with local advocates and survivor leaders\, and we are inspiring education reform that advocates for bringing an end to the exploitation of children. Our expanding network includes partners on the ground that range from non-profits\, government organizations\, and survivors\, and now YOU! \nDue to COVID-19 Pandemic\, our in-person screenings have been postponed. But we have found a solution to continue our live screenings with Q&A from home. It focuses on youth wrongfully criminalized youth in the judicial system\, manipulated and coerced by family\, friends\, and caretakers; and exploited by multiple slavery industries. \nIt aims to point out not only the injustices were done to these children but also offer solutions to help spread change in society. The film highlights heroic stories from abolitionists and advocates who work night and day to protect children and to put an end to this epidemic. Sharing an empowering message of how each survivor took control of her/his life\, developing into influential leaders and champions of change. \nFrom victim to survivor to thriver– these young women and men dedicate their lives to preventing injustices from happening to others. SUMMARY:How Pornhub is enabling sexual exploitation and what we can do about it with: Laila Mickelwait (Exodus Cry)
DESCRIPTION:Pornhub is the largest and most popular pornography website in the world. It is generating millions of dollars in advertising and membership revenue with 42 billion visits and over 6 million videos uploaded per year. And visits have only increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet it has no system in place to verify reliably the age or consent of those featured in the pornographic content it hosts and profits from. \nAnd indeed\, mounting evidence shows that films of the rape\, abuse and trafficking of both women and children are hosted on Pornhub with disturbing regularity. \nIn “#Traffickinghub: How Pornhub is enabling sexual exploitation and what we can do about it\,” Laila Mickelwait\, Director of Abolition for Exodus Cry\, will discuss how Pornhub enables\, promotes and profits from sexual exploitation\, and what we can do to address the issue. \nOn Thursday\, April 30 from 12-1 pm EDT\, join World Without Exploitation for a timely and insightful presentation. \nPlease register soon\, as capacity is limited.

SUMMARY:National Listening Session – Preventing Online Child Sexual Exploitation
DESCRIPTION:In April 2020\, during National Child Abuse Prevention Month\, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office on Trafficking in Persons (OTIP) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) are hosting four listening sessions about child trafficking and exploitation during the COVID‑19 pandemic. \nWe invite you to join the discussion about prevention and response strategies at the federal\, state\, and local levels. Discussion will also include how COVID-19 affects vulnerability to exploitation and access to supportive services for children and youth across the country. \nEach listening session will include a brief presentation and a facilitated discussion during which you may share information and ask questions related to the topic. We want to learn about your efforts to safeguard children and youth during the COVID-19 public health crisis. \n\nHow can we apply our knowledge of risk and protective factors to this public health crisis?\nWhich programs or resources can we adapt to address child trafficking and exploitation during COVID-19?\nWhat gaps exist in services to prevent and respond to children and youth experiencing trafficking and exploitation?\nWhat systems and interventions need to be adapted during COVID-19 to support the needs of children and youth experiencing trafficking or at risk for exploitation??\n\nPrevention of Online Child Exploitation will discuss prevention of online child exploitation (grooming\, recruitment\, etc.) during COVID-19 when more youth are spending time online\, are disconnected from peers and other social supports\, and are not attending school. Presenters will share thoughts on the impact of isolation\, lessons learned related to COVID-19\, and resources and strategies to mitigate risk.
